A&A Millworks rallied from an 81-68 deficit going into the fourth quarter as they edged Errol Carlstrom Playaz 96-95 in a matchup previously undefeated teams. Al Nolen hit a three-pointer with a 11.3 seconds left to put A&A Millworks up 96-92. Fellow Gopher backcourt mate Devoe Joseph sank a the with 4.4 seconds left to cut the margin to one. Duquesne, behind senior Aaron Jackson's second 30-point game and double-doubles from sophomores Bill Clark and Damian Saunders, outlasted Charlotte to open the Atlantic 10 Conference schedule with a 76-71 win Wednesday night at the Palumbo Center on the Bluff. Bracketed around the evening’s main event, the halftime presentation of Mississippi State’s new football coach, Bulldog basketball played a game of their own. Not very well, though, as visiting Charlotte took a 70-64 victory in Humphrey Coliseum. “We really got exposed tonight,” Coach Rick Stansbury said, not bothering to disguise or diminish his frustrations.   Full Story

While everyone else in Bulldog Country focuses all attentions on the football coach search, roundball work resumed Monday afternoon in Humphrey Coliseum as Mississippi State prepares for a couple of games this week. Fortunately a couple of Bulldogs came up big, really big, as Jarvis Varnado and Ravern Johnson each posted career-high points to allow Mississippi State to hold off Alabama State 76-67 in Humphrey Coliseum. “We played bad today,” Varnado said, “so me and Ravern had to step up and do the scoring.”   Full Story
